About IndyGoth.com
History
IndyGoth was first born as an e-Group, started by AngelSil in June of 2000. The mailing list quickly grew as long time Indianapolis area goths discovered the group and thrived on the new-found interaction. Chat led to outings, outings led to a tighter scene and the list grew some more.
When Yahoo bought e-Groups, Angel decided that a better medium for posting events and organizing the community was needed. It wasn't long beore IndyGoth.net was established. Since that time, the site has undergone numerous changes. When Angel left Indiana for other climates, friend and co-conspirator, mykal, took over the web duties.
In 2002, IndyGoth changed to a dot com and added message boards. Mykal tried to keep the community on the edge, and by the time he was done, he had made the beast 99% dynamic with photo galleries, an events calendar, and user submitted news. For the next five years, IndyGoth continued to grow and gain momentum, becoming the "resource for Indiana's Goth community."
Around 2007, the community started to migrate toward social networking sites such as MySpace. Eventually, Eden Productions took over IndyGoth and used the site strictly for its event promotion. In mid 2009, when Chris Connor of Eden Productions left Indianapolis to pursue further graduate studies, the site transfered to algormor.
Wanting more control over a community run site, IndyGoth has come full circle, as so often happens in history. IndyGoth is once again becoming the resource for Indy's Goth community and is now back with a current calendar of events, photo galleries, and other resources for the Indiana's Goth community.
